Mixed rags are bulk used clothing collected from institutional donors, thrift store salvage floors, and large-scale collection drives. Unlike credential clothing, mixed rags have typically passed through a retail sorting process — meaning the highest-value items have been selected for in-store sale. What remains is a high-volume, lower-cost mix of wearable and recyclable textiles.
Mixed rags are not “waste” — they are a specific product category sold by the bale to importers who serve markets where price per pound matters more than premium brand yield. They are an excellent fit for African, Asian, and certain Latin American markets where wearable everyday clothing at low price points is the priority.
